Baptism is the sacrament which begins our life in Christ and the Church. It is the gift of grace by which we are washed of sin, reborn in the Spirit, made adopted sons and daughters of God, and immersed into the death and resurrection of Jesus. Parents wishing to have their child baptized are required to attend a Baptism Class prior to the celebration of the sacrament. Parents who have attended the class within the past three years are not required to do so for subsequent Baptisms. Baptisms may be performed by any priest or deacon and are required to take place in the Church itself.
